Murmur Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Murmur: Sleep Talk Recorder (“Murmur”, package dev.zeroglabs.sleeptalk) is made by ZeroGLabs (“we”). This policy explains what information the app handles and what this website collects. Questions: zeroglabs.dev@gmail.com.

2. What we collect through the app

Nothing. Murmur does not have the Android INTERNET permission, does not use an account and contains no advertising or analytics SDKs. We do not receive your recordings, your settings or any information about how you use the app.

3. What the app stores on your phone

To work, Murmur keeps the following only on your device:

• Audio clips, recorded only while a sound is detected (AAC/M4A files).
• Clip details: start time, length and loudness.
• For each night: start and end time and a per-minute sound level, used to draw the night’s sound graph.
• Your favorites, schedules and settings.
• Whether you have purchased Pro.

This data is kept in the app’s private storage, which other apps cannot read. It is excluded from Android cloud backups and device-to-device transfer. You can delete clips and nights in the app at any time, and uninstalling Murmur deletes everything.

On the free plan, Murmur keeps your 3 most recent nights plus 3 favorite clips, and removes older nights when you record a new one. It asks before starting a recording that would remove a night. If you turn on the low-storage option, it can also remove the oldest nights when your phone runs low on space. Favorites are never removed automatically.

4. Permissions

• Microphone: to listen for sounds and record clips while a night is running.
• Foreground service (microphone): to keep recording with the screen off, with an ongoing notification.
• Notifications: for the recording notification, schedule reminders and the morning summary. On the lock screen, notifications show only general text.
• Wake lock: to keep recording reliably while the phone sleeps.
• Run at startup: to set schedule reminders again after the phone restarts.
• Google Play billing: to buy and restore Pro.
• View network connections: added by the Google Play Billing library. It only lets the app check whether a network is available. Without the internet permission, Murmur cannot send data.

5. Sharing and exporting

Recordings leave your phone only when you tap Share or Export (Pro features). Share opens the Android share sheet and sends the clip to the app you pick. Export saves files to a location you choose. After that, the app or service you chose handles the file under its own policy.

6. Purchases

Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Google Play. Murmur talks to the Google Play Store app on your device to start a purchase and to check whether you own Pro, then stores that result on your phone. We do not receive your payment details. Google’s handling of purchases is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

7. Children

Murmur is not directed at children. The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

8. This website

This website (zeroglabs.dev) is separate from the app. It uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit and which pages they read. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you view, the site that referred you, your approximate location (derived from your IP address), your device and browser type, and your language. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses.

• Ad personalization and Google signals are turned off for this site.
• For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics cookies are off by default. Google may still receive cookieless measurement requests.
• Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months.
• You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical request data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the service. The website does not show ads.

9. Your choices

Everything the app stores is on your phone and under your control: delete clips or nights in the app, or uninstall it. We hold no app data about you, so there is nothing for us to access or delete. For questions about this website’s analytics, contact us.
